Do you feel energy shifts around the full and new moons? 

To some, they feel like a nuisance. To people working with manifesting and a belief in the magic of the cosmos, these opportunities are ripe to maximise our fullest potential. 

The moon completes an entire orbit around Earth in thirty days and there are eight to twelve moon phases during one lunar cycle (pending who you ask).

This article summarises the basics from eight phases I acknowledge in my practice.

For this post, we focus on two phases: the new moon and the full moon.

There is a common belief in various cultures performing rituals during different phases of the moon can bring about physical or psychological change and transformation. This is also linked to energetic vibrations around the full and new moons, when universal energy is more aligned. 

Astrologically speaking, the moon represents our emotional body. Our moon placement within our natal chart, when we understand its significance, can help to interpret our emotions and how we let them flow (or not).

Awareness of these monthly energetic shifts can bring us heightened states that ultimately help to identify patterns, behaviours, and feelings. The magic happens when we time these events with our emotional frequencies and align our desired vision. 

THE NEW MOON IS THE BEST TIME TO SET INTENTIONS FOR THE UPCOMING LUNAR CYCLE. DEVELOP PATTERNS OR HABITS THAT HELP SUPPORT AN ULTIMATE VISION. CREATE RITUALS AND HABITS TO PROJECT YOUR FUTURE SELF.

New Moon Prompts:

  • REFLECT on habits, behaviours/what is reoccurring? Identify what isn’t working.

  • REVIEW with setting or revising intentions

  • Mood Board planning - day dream!

New Moon Rituals: 

When the moon is at its darkest in the sky, this is the time to be introverted with ourselves, protecting our energetic space. 

  • Journal (brain dump exercise) - yeah, I know…make time for it!

  • Intuition check: Card reading 

  • Say no to mostly everything!

  • REST.

THE FULL MOON IS FOR EVALUATING AND SHEDDING THE THINGS THAT DON'T SERVE OUR WELL BEING OR VISION . WE OFFER GRATITUDE & CELEBRATION AND EXTEND SERVICE WORK THROUGH ACTS OF KINDNESS.

  • REFLECT & toss out any trash

  • OBSERVER mode on…

  • Celebrate what you’re grateful for!

Full Moon Rituals: 

  • REFLECT with journaling (grab some post-it notes or use your phone Notes app)

  • Self-care!

  • REST.
